The Railway bridge
Railway or “Tzarist” bridge is the first railway bridge across the Yenisey in Krasnoyarsk that was opened for rail transport on March 29, 1899. This railway bridge became the only engineering construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway awarded a Gran Prix and the Gold Medal of the Exposition Universelle in Paris for “architectural perfection and excellent technical performance”. In 1930s another constructionally similar way was built near the Tzarist bridge. Later a new Krasnoyarsk bypass bridge called 777 took a part of the railway traffic upon itself. The third railway bridge across the Yenisey constructed on the base of ice cutting abutment arches of the old bridge was opened on December 25, 1998. The Tzarist bridge was fully demounted in 2007.
