Imeni Gazety «Krasnoyarsky Rabochiy» Prospekt
Imeni Gazety “Krasnoyarsky Rabochiy” Prospekt (avenue called after “Krasnoyarsk Worker” newspaper) is the second longest (after Semafornaya Street) and one of the main streets in Krasnoyarsk. People usually call this street “Krasrab”. The street stretches for 9 km and 400 m along all the districts of the right bank. Previously the street was named Moskovsky Trakt (“Moscow route”) as it was a part of the Moscow-Siberian route which was used bytrade and post trains, and prisoner transport. In 1956 the avenue was named after the local daily newspaper calld “Krasnoyarskiy Rabochiy”. In commemoration of the Siberian Route, a Сhained Сonvict Route monument was erected in the vicinity of Predmostnaya square (in Russian “the one near a bridge”) and also there is Moscow Route square near the Krasnoyarye shopping center. There is a tram line in the middle of Krasrab roadway that was put in operation back in 1958. Major concerns, such as Krasnoyarsk Machine-Building Plant and Krasnoyarsk Refrigerator Plant “Biryusa”; 2 higher educational institutions (Reshetnev Siberian State University of Science and Technology, School of Non-Ferrous Metals and Material Science of Siberian Federal University) and a great variety of stores, cafés and restaurants are located along the street. Among other landmarks of the street we have to mention Predmostnaya square with its famous The Abduction of Europa fountain, which is one of the most favourite leisure places of the citizens of all ages, magnificent building of the Krasnoyarsk Circus christened by people as “octagonal pearl”, modern squares with fantastical sculptures and fountain compositions: Kornetovsky square, Family square, The Bremen Town Musicians sculpture and fountain, Cranes monument and others, famous topiaries and beautiful buildings of Stalinist architecture.
